I added a little backbone to my G2 E&E. It now stands up straight even when empty.
I used a piece of .06 Conceal-X and cut it to the shape of the rear slip pocket. Trimmed the corners and used a piece of car door protector to protect the pack fabric from the edge.
My idea was to add a little backbone incase i had something pointy inside that might put pressure on my back. This being particularly nice in summer when wearing just a thin t-shirt. Also, it doubles as a mini-table for my stove or for a lap-table for lunch on the trail, a flat surface to lay a book on or to sit on if logs and rocks are wet or uneven. I cut two identical sized pieces and can bring two if need be. Adds just ounces to the pack. I also cut a thin piece of foam from a yoga pad, the same size as the Conceal-X, to sit on. It can be sandwiched between the two Conceal-X pieces and all slipped into the rear slip pocket. Took all of 10 minutes to do.
X-Ray straps and two mini-long pockets are coming soon to add on.
I love this little pack!

Cool idea. I'm going to copy/paste your post, and send the pics to a friend who has an E&E.
