Went back to the flea market and picked up the 307. Cleaned, sharpened and oiled it. Would like to find a 313 at the flea market!
307 on top 301 then 303. Why did not number them by size?

That is a nice knife. I like your collection, so far.
Not a yard sale but I was on a site yesterday that had the 313 (too much, I think). I love yard sales and have found some great treasures at them. I hope you find your knife. Go early because the dealers are out before daylight.

How I see things:

You know the 307 is sized where I don't like that size knife in my pocket. In a small belt sheath it is great. It is great size when you open it up in your hand and start cutting, better than 301. I consider the 301 a generalist knife. If I was going to carry two 300s at once I would carry a 303 or 309 in my pocket (jeans watch pockets if it will fit) and then would have a 307 on my belt. I sort of grew up thinking of the 311 and 313 as specialists knives. Guys that trapped during the winter carried them. I also knew one guy who was a crappie fisherman and used his 311 to clean those. In general I have three groups of knives: the "collection" - knives I started out carrying that sort of changed direction. Hunting knives: Specialized knives like Selectors, 110s/112s and say 103s or Vanguards for skinning. I have four 121 for cutting meat up. Then there is the everyday in you pocket knives: A dozen or more years passed where I carried a 309 or 303 in a watch pocket and had a 112 or Bucklite on my belt. But now I am very attached to the small Vantages, my favorite is a customized stag scaled version. I generally use the 'Swedish' steel ones, but do have a s30v version also. I have one large Vantage that I dyed the beige scale bright orange and it is my go outside to do rough work knife. The 317s are nice large folders that I would call a 'Hunting' model, I know several folks like them for everyday carry and that is great. I would have to carry one in a belt sheath if I had to use one. To be truthful I just don't find much use for the small 305, I do know that some of you have length limits at work and it works for you so good Buck makes it. But for a small, watch pocket hide out knife, I prefer the 309. I know some of you like the 302 single blades, so I am glad Buck makes them for you. I have a few in the collection only. That's my first day of the year talk for this threads subject. Hope for the future. 300Bucks

EDIT PS...If you are BCCI member and haven't read the history section on the website, I think their is something on the 307, 311 and 321. I will someday 'get a round 2 it" and do 301s,303s and 309s.....

Thanks 300 for taking the time to write all this up for us. I like to carry the Lancer 305 in my watch pocket as a back up knife a gift from SkyHorse. Then a Bucklite in a sheath or back pocket. Both work for me and this will handle 97% of all my cutting task. In my truck I carry a large knife and the Saw Buck for the other 3%. DM
