I recently purchased my 3rd sebenza and went for a large 21 w/ clip point blade this time around. I was camping a few days back and while the small I was carrying did all the jobs I needed it to, I couldnt help but feel like the work would have been easier with a bigger knife.

I get the hype for the large seb now. It is substantially more knife than the small. It's kind of a ton of knife in general. Much larger than it's dimensions lead me to believe. Carrying and using the large has been a lot different than I thought it would be. I have average sized hands and my pinky usually hangs off my small sebenzas and I've found the large to be a great deal more comfortable in the hand and actually, a lot easier to open. The small sebenza is not hard to open by any means but I usually end up rotating the knife a bit as I push the thumbstud out, on the small. On the large, it feels like a much more natural movement, without fiddling with the handle midway through opening.

It really doesn't cause any discomfort being carried either. It does carry deeper in the pocket and is obviously heavier however, unless I feel around for the knife, I still don't really notice it being in my way. I can definitely tell it's there, just based on the weight, but it's a very comfortable carry.

My final thoughts are; the small sebenza 21 can do 99% of what you're going to need it to do but, the large sebenza 21 can do 99% of what need to do, really effortlessly. If I had to choose one to carry every day, it'd still be the small but, I don't see myself ever going camping again without my large 21.

Feel free to share your thoughts as well, owners of both the large and small.

That's a very interesting perspective. I bought the small since I usually wear dress pants to work. Anything larger than a 4" handle prints a lot with dress pants. However, I think a large will be in my future.

I definitely agree. I have all sorts of Sebenzas and I carry the sm plain jane Insingo the most. For me it's just the perfect cutting tool. It's plenty big and robust enough for every cutting task I need to do. If I need something bigger than my small Insingo I should be using a fixed blade.

If you like the large 21 for camping to take care of chores more comfortably, just wait until you get your Umnumzaan, and after the Umnumzaan, wait until you get your Sebenza25.
I have the small, large, Umnumzaan and 25. Use them all(that is the ones in my EDC rotation), and no matter which one I'm carrying, they all perform well.

Small Sebenza 21 all day for me too, when in work/dress attire.

I've been pretty interested in a Nyala Insingo with the same mind set, but, the large seems like it will take care of bigger tasks just fine. I guess we don't really need a reason to grab another CRK though...

Agreed. All the CRK knives I've owned have been nothing but top notch performers in every way.

Sebenza's are the pinnacle of EDC knives in my opinion. Regarding the comparison from a small to a large, it makes a big difference to me because my hands slightly favor the larger side. The large Sebenza feels very comfortable in hand.

It's similar to what OP said, they are both great but the large makes it effortless. Love the large.

I prefer the large, well, because I am large. I will say that even with my big mitts I find the small fairly easy to handle with no issue.

I agree. It is easy to handle, without any argument on my end. I can't explain why I feel that the large is even more easy to handle. Maybe my hand just finds itself gripping it in the most comfortable way, with less thought than the small. Both great knives regardless and I'd still choose the small for EDC over the large.
