This is the Entrek Jag. It's one of the first designs produced when Ray Ennis started Entrek.

The steel used is Ray's specially treated 3/16" 440C, and the dimensions are 9 inches overall with a 4 3/8 inch rounded Tanto blade. The handles are black canvas Micarta and the knife comes with a Kydex sheath

I think you may agree that the Jag should make an excellent camp knife.

I have had a Jag for several years. It's a tough knife. Well actually I have had two. I bought one second hand that had been treated less than kind. I emailed Ray and he said to send it in and he would fix it up like new. I did, and waited and waited and waited. Sent a follow up email asking if they had shipped it back and Ray sent a reply saying he got it, cleaned it up and mailed it back the next day! He checked the tracking number and looks as if the postman somewhere ended up with a refurbished Entrek. He mailed me out a brand new one that day. Great service from a great guy.
You will be pleased with the Jag. A lot of people bash 440, but he knows how to do it up right.

Looks like when you own an Entrek you own an Entrek for life.:thumbup:

I like this one so much I'm going to have Ray make me a custom Jag. Watch for it in the future.:)

Ennis is a master of 440C. Whenever you have a maker who exclusively works with 1 steel, the results can be incredible.

Check out Ray's vids on YouTube. Just a humble master of the craft IMO. Awesome stuff!

Congrats and enjoy! I've drifted away from thicker knives, and from sabre grinds...but I'm drawn to those Entreks lately regardless.

I look forward to some future "use" pics, both of yours look mint!

Funny you should say that. My first "custom" knife was a Merc with a rag micarta handle that I bought at a show in Nashville from Ray back around '91 and I still have it. Had a friend take it to Iraq a couple of times and it's been beaten unmercifully over the years. Other then the bead blasting getting polished off and a ton of scratches it's suffered no damage whatsoever.

I think people today get bent and split hairs about steels today. 440-C done properly is a fantastic steel and Ray is a master of it as others have said. And I'll take a well used piece of 440-C that I know how it performs over an unused super steel knife that may have hidden flaws or is impossible to sharpen in the field, any day.

I know this is an older post but I have been using a JAG as a bushcraft/camp knife for years. It is one of the best knives I've ever owned and used. I've heard folks say that stainless wont throw sparks from a ferro rod...well, the JAG will shower sparks like no other knife I've used. The spine is sharp and the edge retention is amazing. I would put Entrek's 440C against ANY steel out there. 440C is extremely under rated, especially Ray Ennis 440C.

All he claims he does special is sub zero stabilize it and he actually sends it out for that. I think any knifemaker making a serious use knife out of 440c knows that sub zero stabilizing is necessary for max performance. He does a hollow grind and in his youtube video he grinds his badger model in under 2 minutes! I just think one has too many nice custom options with a more functional grind and better steel in the same price range.

I have a Jag and a Elk that I bought over 10 years ago. They have proven to be tough and reliable. They hold an edge well and have done whatever I have needed them to do. Considering the quality for the price, they have been good values for me. I have found them to be superior to some of the "custom" knives I have had. I live in a very corrosive environmet near the Atlantic so 440C is a good choice for me. When I am out in the canoe, I don't have a bottle of oil to wipe off a carbon steel blade after every use. There is a place for a well made stainless knife blade to be a good choice for constant use in this environment. I am very happy with my two Entreks.

I love the looks of entreks, but never had one. I've always wanted one, and have almost pulled the trigger a few times. It just seems like something else always comes up. I really like the looks of quite a few of them. Nothing at all wrong with 440C either. It's a great steel.

I have several and I love them all. My major complaints are the handles are a little on the smallish side for my hands and the sheathes are junk, but they are amazing knives beyond that.
