Well,
I traded into this ol school Ratweiler, and the handle slabs had been off in the past, so I thought...should I just finish it up like it was, or get creative.
Well, I went with door number 2.
What do you think?
I have bigger hands, so I thought It would fit my hand better, I haven't gotten out and tested them to see if I get any hot spots yet, but it feels pretty good in hand.

Looks nice! The contrast really sets it off nicely.

Love the Foxfire books, I have a few myself. :)

VERY nice. How much thickness is it adding to the grip, or did you shave the original micarta?

About 3/16"...ALMOST to much...but I think its just right.
We shall see, I can always do it again with just a single liner.

You and me both...great books about Americans living the old way..
Some pretty important stuff in there IMO.
Yeah, thats the top of the gun cabinet..I had to come up with a way to hold my "outdoor" books, and keep them off of my office floor..LOL.
It doubles as a gun rack.

PS, I think its really cool that the knife is numbered under the scales..this is Ratweiler #144

There is an amazing amount of "lost" knowledge in those volumes, most Appalachian. I'm finding I have lots of family there as well, evidently Puckett is rather common over there. :)

I found there are five volumes in the old set, and recently discovered a 12 volume newer set? Going to have to look deeper in that one.

Just looked and there is a 45th anniversary edition, wow, its been a while! I was two when they were written.

Here's a late to the party picture....Nice knife.

Man that looks good!!! Fattened up and ready for business. Well done and I wish there had been an option for something like that. I always liked the swamp grips but thought they could have been better if they had some more junk in the trunk. One reason I like the R9 so much!!!
