Since it doesn't say UH after the 144, I wonder. Also can anyone tell me anything about the knife, like whether it had a name? I don't remember it at all from olden times.

Search Dixie Collection. Part of other collection sets as well. Look at the blade under a magnifying glass and see if there are any remnants of an etching. Also sold them singularly but that serial number on bolster leads me to guess part of a collection.

Most likely an SFO part of a set with an LB8.

144UH Guides Choice; 8-1/2″; 3-3/4″ blade w/sheath; 1979-1982. With different (brown saw-cut) covers the same knife is the 14OT, called the Timberline.
I can't see your images for some reason, so I don't know if this fits your knife or not.

Thanks for your help, Gents. I like this knife a lot and am glad I failed to resist it.

Sorry about the images, it's all witchcraft to me. Windows 10 tells me the app doesn't open, as if that explains anything, but I thought they uploaded all right to Dropbox from the camera card.

Huh, they are Dropbox images so maybe that's a clue. I can see them fine.

Tongue you hit the nail on the head.

I don't have one in my collection, it's on the list though.

I don't see any sign of a blade etch. Half of the rear compression rivet is missing, so maybe it was rescued from a seconds/recycling bin? No sheath either.
I'm surprised the pattern didn't last longer; great ergos for me anyway.

That is a nice knife. It used the same sheath as for the 13 OT and 14 OT, and maybe even the PH 1; I think I have seen them as stand-alones on ebay. Schrade made some really nice fixed blades (and a few I don't care for) and this is one of them.

Thanks; I'll start looking for the right sheath.
In the meantime, this Schrade sheath that I bought empty decades ago holds it pretty snugly, though it was obviously molded for something else.

I had to google PH1. Looks like you're right. It's a well-made and sturdy sheath, and I think it's close enough.
I appreciate you guys' appreciating my new knife, and thanks again for giving me a name and dates for it.
