Well I finished this one up today.5160 blade a little over 8 inches long and 3/16 inches thick and 1 1/4 inches wide, with Nickel silver guard and ferrule.Ebony Handle and teh handle is 4 1/2 inches long from the guard.
Please let me know what you think of it.

Very cool! I like the false edge and also the handle shape. The handle looks like it would be very comfortable to hold. Are you running into any inclusions in your 5160? I love the steel but have been unable to find a source that is inclusion free.

c-camerer,I was lucky enough to get ahold of 1500 pounds of different sized round rod a few years ago and I havent really bought any new stock in 5160 lately.Every once in a while I will run into a small pitting on the blade when I am finished but that was in only a couple of blades in all these years.

Ebbtide,It will be finished before the weekend if everything goes according to plan:cool: email me would you....

Thanks everybody for the kind words here..
Bruce

I love the clip and the false edge! And that handle is awesome! The only criticism I can offer is that at first glance the guard appears to small.

Awesome Blade nonetheless!

YEA it sucks, like all those other ones.:D sharp and real classic looking. bruce i just finished a knife with some of the giraffe bone i got at blade west. do you have a source? i will post a pic in the next day or two. i am real happy with how this blade came out:cool:

I was trying to keep the guard in the style of the old SAn Francisco knivs like the Price Daggers, and they had small guards. This one looks small but is very comfortable and plenty big enough in my opinion.
Rhino,Can't wait to see the pictures of your new knife. No I don't have a source for the Giraffe Bone myself,I just pick it up when ever I visit a show and someone has some that I like.

Thanks for all the kind words everybody.
Bruce

Thanks Chris.
Bill I believe that yours do look as good as mine and I bet you could do this knife as good or better.
Bruce

Bruce,

I appreciate it, but no way,I've got a very long ways to go to get even close to your work, but it gives a person something to shoot for.

Thanks
Bill

Bill,You are as bad as me...You don't give yourself enough credit for the work you do.
Thanks Xrayed,That was the look I was shooting for.

Instead of changing my knives over to the black and gray tactical knives for the military and urban homefront military,I thought that I would try making something for the homeland gentelman to carry that wouldn't look mean and offensive when carried inside a suit for protection but instead have that old world classy gentelman look and feel but be able to be counted on if the chips are down.Who knows how this war thing is going to go,and I figured there are allot of guys out there making the tactical mean looking knives,So I figured I would try something different.
What do you guys think ....Good or BAd idea???

If you grew up on "Bonanza, Rawhide, The Rifleman, Wanted Dead or Alive and (my fave) Have Gun Will Travel"
I'd have to say yes!
:)

You know Wally,I hadn't really thought about it,but now that you mention it.I used to love most all those shows and I guess that is one reason that I like these style knives so much.I also liked the old early sixties version of Tarzan and Zoro...They were my Hero's.Bit Tarzan's knife wasn't fancy,But it was a fixed Blade and I always thought that it was cool,Maybe that is why I have always been a fixed blade man and not a folder man.:D :D :D

Well, first post -- except for the one wondering about me -- in over 3 weeks.

Usually have my profile set for 5 days, but had to go back a bit further on this forum. Saw this knife, and couldn't help but resurrect it.

Bruce, you outdid yourself! Which I know is hard. But, I love this knife. It has a look of balance and usefulness as good as any Bowie I've ever seen! Personally, I think the guard is perfect! Wouldn't want to see it any bigger.

Great knife! Glad to see that you're back to your old self!

Take care,
