So since I have acquired a few higher quality space blankets I decided to open up one of my older ones, (no idea how old, possibly Apollo era) that had spent the last couple of winters in my parka pocket. its now about 50% unfolded, had I been trying with mitts or cold hands it would be about 10% open. Its also stuck to itself in so many placed that it's shredded. there is about a 2.5x5 foot usable section. just a thought for anyone who has an older space blanket in a built and forgot "oh shit kit". I'm guessing that this one is a cheaper model, as it is pretty thin. Not sure why it stuck together, whether it got heated, age and breakdown of the plastic, or just low quality. I'm glad I didn't need it. its been replaced with a AMK heatsheet bivy.

Thanks for that important bit of information!

Over the years, I bought cheapie space blankets to put in most of my packs and bags. I do have a good one in the bag I use in cold weather. I'll start replacing the other cheapies soon!

Thanks again,

yea, i found that too, the longer the heat sheets staye dfolded up in the pack, the more likely they stick together..
