The more I get into knives, the more I want user knives that I can totally beat the crap out of and have them look good with wear or not show much wear. So that means, andodized aluminum is OUT. I think I'm drawn to G10 knives because they SEEM high quality, while the FRN stuff feels cheap, like a toy. I used to LOVE everything benchmade but then I realized that their knives are too pretty for me or something???? plus I hate hate hate the aluminum scales.

I love the Benchmade 710 even though the blade is huge and not really a hard use knife. I think that with the basic textured G10 scales it is just begging to get beat up.
I love my CQC7 with a stone washed finished. It's begging to have the crap beat out of it. Unfortunately, it's a terrrrrible cutter. Slicing a tomato with the cqc7 make the tomato look like it went into a blender.
My mini grip, meh. It definitely doesn't show any where but meh, it's ok. Feels like a toy
I want a southard. OOooo boy do I want a southard.
I hate the S30V KAI Leek Bcuz it has ZERO belly but I love the rugged G10 handle and stone washed finish. It is also begging to get to work.

Please tell me what kind of "USER" knives or hard use knives that you like that you think wear wear well. I need some more options. Also, what else is out there that has G10 that is of good quality. There doesn't seem to be much that I know of.

At work I am usually working where I may rest my knife on pavement if I have to and sometimes I cut some very thick zip ties with my knife instead of using my leatherman squirt just cuz its faster and more fun. .... I had a legitimate reason to stab through some sheet metal with my CQC7 the other day up at the cabin and it will it about gave me a b:)ner. Bottom line: I like knives that look good and don't look worse, or much worse, after they get some wear marks on the handle or blade.

THANKS.
Have fun, don't b!tch

G10 grips on a pry bar.

There you go, something begging to be USED:rolleyes:

In all honesty, I've had no complaints about the G10 on my spyderco military. Shows wear fine.

Interesting. I have a digi cam satin PM2 and I dont want to see a scratch on that knife. Maybe if it was black or stone washed, but it's another big knife that I use for light duty use....plus it has too fine of a tip.

Alot of what has been listed has been ridiculously expensive knives. If I wanted to drop the money, I would get a Southard. 560-not sure if that would look the best scraped up. Strider -YES, but expensive. 550...been on the fence with that one for a while. ....anybody know where to get a Will Moon for under $200?? lol. I seriously thought about begging him on his youtube channel :(

...He even still has a strider SMF that he pimped and put moon glow on it, but he wants $600. NO THANKS. Not for what I want to do with it. However, someday I feel that that knife will be worth LOTS and LOTS of money.

Maybe there are some boker pluses out there or something that are ok.
...OH and I love the Manix 2 Translucent. If know its not G10 but if it was cheaper, it would be the ULTIMATE sleeper knife. Plus it has the awesome lock.

I feel with my username that I must respond to this thread.

I can only second the PM2 and the ZT 0550.

But I'll add the BM 300SN, Cold Steel Recon1, ZT 0200, and my Emerson Super Karambit. I only mention the Emerson because you can get one in a V-grind that will cut much better. I know the karambit wouldn't do you much good as an everyday beater.

I'd say go with the 300SN for something smaller, and the 0200 for something bigger. Both would make great beaters.

Meh, once you put the first scratch or chip in the blade, you start to appreciate it more.

I find most ZT knives to work well as users. They look good but are also overbuilt. If it is in your price range also give HTM Gunhammers a shot. They are the midtech of the GunHammer line and are competitive with some of the ZT line. For a more affordable option look at the Spyderco Paramilitary 2. I find the BM 810 Contego to be an attractive knife (I think just about all my knives are attractive), but is more of a tactical user style attractive and is made to be used.

Somehow I doubt you're going to hook into a Moon for less than 5-600$, at least with the Mark 6s. Those start at 600$ and go up from there. They're fantastic flippers though...

That emerson looks sexy when its all dirty like that! Along with g10 and stone wash I like just a no nonsense, understated, and maybe classic styled knife. Although the mini roadhouse definitely isnt marketed towards me, I am liking that and the horseman. I just would like something different than an emerson.

For a cheaper g10 knife, maybe a Kershaw piston. Its g10 handles, sandvik 14c28n blade and is just sweet looking. I have a zt 0200, it's built like a tank but is large/thick/heavy, I have carried it and as long as I have a belt, I don't notice it. Some more cheap alternatives, spyderco resilience / tenacious. I held a resilience, it's big but pretty bada$$, I want one.

If people knew what this knife has done, they would possibly cry. I love G10 and hate metallic scales too. Nothing is worse in the rain, sweat, cold, or extreme heat. I think it looks bad anyways too. I love G10 user knives, but I'm actually trying a knife with FRN that's very decent compared to Cold Steel or Benchmade's FRN. I actually wanted to get away from S30V and I've only had one AUS8 knife that was a CRKT that fell apart before I could stress the steel. I'm just fed up with chipping so I'll have to see how it goes.

Manix 2, Junkyard Dog II, or Skyline.

If you're willing to forgo the G-10 and try an FRN handle that feels pretty good to me (not quite as much traction as I usually feel on G-10 but not that typical "plasticky" feel), I'd say the Ontario Rat I. Cheap, tough, and begging to be abused.
