No new knives this year, and then last night I went on a tear. I ordered 5 knives from ragweedforge. I got two Okapi's, and Opinel, a Brown Mule Sodbuster, and an Old Hickory butcher knife. Luckily they were all inexpensive traditionals!

Great Carbonia Steel! -- "Okapi's, and Opinel, a Brown Mule Sodbuster, and an Old Hickory butcher knife".

- All sharpen to a razors edge, watch those Opinels!!

its all good.

As far as I can remember, the Okapi has German roots. I remember seeing an Okapi type knife that belonged to a WWI solider who was either french or German. It's actually a really cool knife.

God Bless

This is my first and new Opinel and I'm really liking it!! My Grandfather had one to, but I never warmed up to them until now. This one is a #8 and I would like to try another one two etc. Any suggestions on which size or model to try next?

The grand total for all five knives I bought was $57.50 including shipping. I have an Opinel #7, but wanted a #6 to customize. I've been intrigued by the Okapi's for a while, and I wanted the sodbuster and the butcher knife because they were cool looking and really inexpensive. I bought one of the lockback Okapi's and another smaller one without the lock to try. I look forward to all the carbon steel in my mailbox soon.
