So i figured an update on my BladeForums status was necessary. since i've bought the 940, i've dulled it twice. what can i say, i like using it. for a gentleman's folder i must say that i have no fear in sticking the mo effer wherever i please. the thin edge i had Richardj [who did a FANTASTIC job btw ] put on it held up to card board very well. until that is i started hacking harley's out of their crates and started smacking into tin girders. my bad. props to BM's d2 for not chipping or anything. very happy

but to the update on the addiction, i've made a list of things i plan on picking up. recently picked up another job so working 50+ hrs a week, i'll likely be getting them.

first up is a sharpmaker like i've mentioned. however Richard managed to sell me on a paper wheel. so i'm in the process of acquiring the necessities for that. snagged a quarter horse electric motor but i guess its not strong enough so the 3/4 my gramps has in his garage is getting the call next time i'm down there. working on procuring a desk so i can make my little knife shop :D

next after that is a nice cheap combo of a becker necker and a sak 125th anni climber. figure the becker is a fantastic party/camp knife, and the sak is sheeple friendly. [DO NOT FLAME ME FOR USING THAT TERM, I DON"T GIVE A RATS A$$ FOR YOUR PC. i'm not closed minded to non knife people, however if they're closed minded to me, i have a term for them]. these two things will be purchased probably not this week but the week after assuming my clutch problem is resolved.

following this is my alluring interest in three interesting knives. for a more gentlemanly gentleman's folder i have the mcusta yoroi in mind. the 940 will be receiving an STR clip this week, and possibly some dobson ti scales in the next few months. so the mcusta gets letter opening duty. next in that list are two knives that will likely take turns replacing the becker on the fixed/necker duty. those are the ESEE HEST [like the izula but i love my beer too much to pass on a bottle opener and the SAK just isn't as awesome for that job. plus i like to party in trunks, so a necker is ideal for this situation] and the Warren Thomas model 6 ti necker. the model 6 is a little guy, but at a featherweight 1.4 oz, and ingenious designing i will undoubtedly use this guy for all kinds of stuff.

and finally in my list of must haves is a hard use folder. CRK's are sweet, but not my cup of tea. Striders are far too tacticool for my taste [great knives i'm sure, just don't dig em] and i've fallen hard for the xm18. hard. i want a 3" flipper so damn bad. you have no idea. but i lost my oakley's today, and my migraines require me to have shades so that $400 goes there first. crappy luck. but i'm sure i'll survive long enough without it.

all that said, i'm open to suggestions and i would love a simple carbon folder, i like the price tag and materials of the bradley but i can't get over the spyderco aesthetics. so idk. i was looking for this when i was woed by the 940. d2 was close enough, but having read this whole forum pretty much, i've discovered that close enough doesn't actually satisfy, it merely adds another requirement

oh well. my wallet hates you all with a fiery passion but i must say that i gotta love it. i need a hobby thats slightly cheaper than breaking sh!t on my truck and drooling over motorcycles, though as it would have it my addictive personality won't let me have just the one hobby. its gotta be all 3 it would seem. oh well. money's just a number, who cares as long as the bills get paid

Thanks for the update! All of that since June, eh?

haha, i'd own all of it if i had the money. i didn't believe you guys when you said i'd get addicted :o
