I'm just curious if anyone here has taken apart a lockback and ground a Boye dent on it.

I would seen to me to be an easy modification to do.

I put one on a lockback, but I did not take is apart to do so.

I simply used round diamond and ceramic rods.

hmmm interesting. I was thinking more along the lines of taking it apart and using a Dremel to make the dent. I didn't consider using sharpening rods

Well, the issue the Boye detent is intended to resolve is the unintentional release of the lock when using the knife in certain grips. Some people like the detent and some people do not like the detent.

Personally, if you don't have the above noted issue with a knife, I would not go to the trouble.

A Dremel type tool will be quicker, but I had time and wanted to reduce the chance of removing too much metal. I added the feature to a Fallkniven U2, BTW.

My buddy I use to work with after 911 did it to his older Delica with out dissasembling. It turned out nice.
