Well I finally did it, I bought a bk15... After several dismissed opportunities I figured if I wanted one I better get one now before they're gone....luckily one just popped up on the exchange for a reasonable price.... Look forward to seeing what the fuss is all about.

The Fuss, Hype is the Tweeners

15,16,17 a condensed version of the 5,2,and the kabar 1219 or 9,7, not sure on the 17
but I guess you're 15 the descendant of this 1

The 5 and the 15 reside in my kitchen when not on outings.

I saw that you scored that one, congrats. Unfortunately, the tweener handles are too small for my mitts, but the wife loves hers.

The tweener handles are in that just right category for me, not to large not small. I wear a large glove, the only time I've had issues with em is when my 16 was new. With the factory edge and choking up a lil the pressure applied while feathering created a hot spot on the area between my thumb and pointer finger. That was resolved by reprofiling it and very lil pressure needing to be applied.

I've put off getting the 15 for so long simply bc the blade shape didn't appeal to me, but with em being gone practically everywhere I figured it's now or never. Besides the wifey hates it when I pull my 16 it and start using it the kitchen, (slight germ aphobe when it comes to raw meats) so the 15 will likely live in the kitchen.

I wish the handle size would have worked out for me. That 16 probably wouldn't leave my side.

I was the same way with the 5. Didn't really appeal to me either. I ended up trading my Skeletool CX for one. While still not my favorite, it is a slicey beast, and very capable blade.

Yes the 16 does make an excellent edc...Its always on my belt unless I'm flying, but then it's in my checked luggage, along with my 9.

I have never had the inclination to do it myself but I would suspect, given some of the talent I've seen around here, that putting full-sized "large" Becker handles on the Tweeners would not be impossible. Some enterprising soul with a 3D printed, CAD and plastic could probably even make an adapter of sorts.

I agree on that. My wife loves the BK15 handle. I can't get into it. The larger Becker handle ruined me.

Mine lives in the kitchen knife block for the most part. Stripped and thinned out, lightly convexed, it's an awesome slicer.

The newest addition arrived today....since it's going to start out in the kitchen it'll get stripped and sharpened tomorrow...guess I need to get a bk17 now to complete the tweeners...can't just leave it out lol

Enjoy it. It is too thick for a kitchen knife for me but it is a wonderful do everything camp knife. I boned an elk out his year with a BK15 and another knife. The BK15 performed admirably at a rather large and challenging job. For me it is a great hunting knife that can do double duty in a survival role and in a game processing role.

I'll give it a try in the kitchen, everyone says what a great slicer it is...my thought was it'll be MY dedicated knife to use cutting up meat and such... nothing worse than trying cut chicken breasts with a knife that's been thrown in the sink and dishwasher several times over by fellow house dwellers...ie wife and kids lol...I sharpen em and a week later you'd never tell

Oh, it is a great slicer. I should have given the disclaimer with that statement that I am a little picky about my knives. It should serve you well. I hear ya about the fam just tossing the knives in the sink. Bah, what can ya do but keep sharpening them. Sometimes it kinda feels like shoveling while it is still snowing outside.

That's the only reason why I haven't splurged on a nice kitchen set...until they learn to respect em and treat em with care they're stuck with faberware...and I'm gonna hide the bk15 lol

Thanks for buying another Becker.... The Fifteen is a great helper around the home kitchen and around camp..... Makes a great skinner and does most camp chores well..... I do hope she works her tail off for you!!!.....

All best....

Thank you for designing and producing such great knives that we all can buy without breaking the bank or our necks when the wives find out. [emoji33]

I do still need to get a bk4 before they're all gone, and a 7, 11, 12, 17, 21, and 24...also another 2 and 9..you know just encase there ever discontinued too.[emoji6]
