i just bought a cqc7 and its a non waved version (this is the first cqc7 on ebay au for a while so i nabbed it.
but what a really want is a waved one. does anyone know how to get a waved blade? do i send the knife back to emerson with a $50 bill in the envelope with a note saying please can i get a waved blade?

I'm not sure of their policies, but with the use of a dremel I have waved several of my knives. Now it's not exactly like the perty little nub poking out of the emersons, but they all work flawlessly. I'd try contacting emerson, but if that doesn't work, you could either do it yourself, or find someone that can.

Oh $hit, I just thought of something. If your knife has the thumb disc, you can get a thin flat piece of metal and curve it to your specifications and put it under your thumb disc and just tighten it up. This makes for a great home made wave without ruining the original blade. Plus you can take it off whenever you please. Hope this helps, J.

I'd post it for trade in the trade forums. Me personally, I don't like the wave and grind it off the knives that I don't have the option of buying 'waveless'. There's a good chance someone else has a waved 7 and would be willing to trade.

A new blade from EKI will run you about $75. They'll be happy to do it if that's your wish.

Yeah what he said, you can put a piece of metal under the thumb disc. it works better that the real thing if you do it right. I did it before with a bunch of the CS recon series, and that turned them into bad ass knives, and it doesn't ruin the blade if you want to resell and someone doesn't like your dremel work. I dremel most of my spydies. After my first super cqc-7 I can't live without the wave unless the knife is very special.

can you post a few pictures of your setup and of the piece of metal.

I haven't done it myself, but I've seen others who have. I know that I "can" do it, just unscrew the thumb disc, find a small rounded off piece of metal, and drill a hole in it so that it will fit when the thumb disc is put back in place. After that it's the easy part. Simply get a pair of pliers or whatever is on hand and bend the metal to your specifications, whatever angle works best at catching the edge of your pocket. Be sure to do the bending when the metal is NOT already screwed on. That could and probably will mess up your thumb disc and the screw attached to it.
