Adding Assisted Open to DMF.

Welcome to Bladeforums.
Unless you own or have access to and can operate a CNC mill, can redesign the handle to accept torsion bars or springs without catastrophic failure or have a very strong knifemaking/modification understanding and history under your belt...The short answer is no. You would be better off buying the automatic version somewhere.

Thank you for the fast and very well worded reply.
Also, thank you for the welcome. :D
I don't have any of the things you listed.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Manual Folder?

Edit: never mind I started rambling.

Yeah I don't know if he goes back in forth, but I thought I remembered seeing both. That is straight out of google images :p

Most of the Gerber line up is not the highest quality, the knives are made in China and are generally considered to be economy folders (junk steel). This knife though, has much better steel (S30V) and is made in the US. I would not hesitate to purchase this knife. In fact, a friend on the forums has some other really nice Gerber knives, same steel, and USA made.

If automatics are illegal in your area, I would not hesitate to get the manual version, especially if you ike the design. Good steel, good ergos, good warranty.
