Adding DIY serrations to a pocket knife

I’m a fan of a combo edge knife, and I’ve been frustrated that a lot of popular knives that I want to own are not offered in a combo edge variant. So I tried my hand at adding some serrations to a plain blade myself. I’ve tried a few methods, but I get the best results using a dremel with some diamond burr bits, then sharpening using my favorite method for serrations, sandpaper. My latest attempt turned out pretty good, so I made a video about it if you want to see the process. Has anyone else tried doing this? If so, what worked and what didn’t? I’d love to see your pics!

Looks pretty good, did you do anything to prevent the edge from overheating? It's easy for that to happen using a dremel

I added serrations to my rat 1 and dpx hest. My process was basically the same as yours, dremel with different size grinding bits.

Yes I addressed that in the video :) I had a spritzer bottle of ice water that I sprayed after ever pass or so to keep the blade temp down so I don’t ruin the heat treat or temper.

dang that RAT turned out great! Looks a lot like factory serrations! I have a RAT II I’m planning to do soon, I might copy that serration pattern, it looks like a winner for that blade. How do they cut? Anything you’d do differently?

I should’ve taken the time to space them out better. I just dove right in. They do cut good.
