Adding Handle Material

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have a small neck knife that only has a skeleton frame. The sheath and the shape of the knife make it a perfect river rescue knife, but the bare metal handle ruins it (need grip in wet conditions). I would like to make a handle for it, but I am not sure where to begin. I thought about a para cord lacing, but the holes in the handle are too small. Is there any danger in drilling them out? Are there any good tutorials on making wooden handles?

a picture would be helpful if you want advice specific to your knife. if you can't find a suitable handle material it would probably be very easy to add some jimping to the handle with a dremel, or you could even get some of that rubber dip they sell at home depot, i use it to re-dip the handles of my tools from time to time when the factory rubber wears out. you simply dip the handle in it and add your own texture to it before it dries, or let it harden then rough it up with some sand paper or notch it for a nice cheap solution. here is a link Plasti-dip. the best thing about the dip is that if you don't like how it turns out you can scrape it off and try again.

That stuff looks like just the ticket. I was not aware that something like that was available. Thanks.
