Adding Jimping?

So, just opened my Spyderco Khurki not 5 minutes ago, and I'm already frustrated by the lack of jimping on the spine- my thumbs sliding all over the place just playing with the thing, so I can only imagine it in a high impact application.

This knife needs jimping, badly.

My question is, should I attempt to do this myself, and if so, how should I go about it?

I have access to milling machines, would that be the right tool for the job? Do I need to worry about screwing up the heat treat on this kind of grinding application?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

All you really need is a dremel with a good cutting bit on it and you can easily add some jimping to it. Or do what Nutnfancy does and stick griptape to the place he wants the jimping.

Yes, what chococrazy said in the first reply. Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel will do a fine job. The heat input is not enough to worry about, not where you will be working on the blade. The cuts can be very shallow and still do the job. The key is the sharp edges bordering the slots, as they are what provide the slip resistance.

The grip tape seems like an inferior solution, whose prime advantages are speed and reversibility.
