Anyone here add a pocket clip to their SAK OHT? Any tutorials out there?

Where's a good place to buy pocket clips and screws?

Wanted to know where to drill and how deep.

Thanks.

LOL, I don't know if I'm ready to join the Secret Society. :p

Thanks for the tips.

*Edit, LOL, oh well, couldn't help myself. I asked posted on the Knife forums asking to join SOSAK. :D

I scoured the SOSAK site and couldn't find anything about how to add pocket clip to the OHT.

I think it's actually the SOSAK forum on knifeforums.com, where the OHT pocket clip mod has been discussed, and where I have recently saw pictures of scibeer modded OHT with the pocket clip.

Edwood,

You can get good clips and kits for adding clips on knifekits.com.

I have a few out there I threaded through the liners with the stock scales that are still fine, but it isn't optimal for strength. Swissbianco is making some OHT's with clips that have a metal piece behind the stock scales that the clip screws into and then the scales are epoxied on.

I usually put clips on knives I have changed the handles on so I thread through the solid handle and into the liner and it stays put that way with a little thread locker.

Thanks so much for the link, scibeer.

So I guess it's not easy to remove the scales. Pretty much have to rip them off and then epoxy them back into place? LOL, might as well replace the scales with micarta or G-10 then.

Lots of SAK lovers have done that!

The scales come off easily and if you do it carefully, they will snap back on. Get a thin screwdriver and push it into the toothpic or tweezer hole and pry up lightly. The scale will pop up off the bushing. There are 4 bushings per side so just work your way down as you go. If they are loose going back on, just use a dab of superglue.

The scales will need to be epoxied on if you only want to attach the clip to them and not through the liners though

scibeer, I am almost certain that I've seen you recommend warming the scales before trying to pry them off...right?

Yep, Just putting the knife in your pocket warms it up and makes the handles a little more pliable so when you pry them off, the rings around the bushings don't tend to crack as easily as when they are cold.
