I was thinking about adding wood scales on the top of micarta handles of a folder. Has anyone done this and does it look OK and work, etc.?
In particular, I have a Spyderco Goddard Jr. that has white Micarta scales. That folder has no screws, just pins and is smooth on top with rounded edges. I was thinking it might look nice if I put some nice stabilzed maple scales on top that match the rounded sides of the white Micarta. This way the white Micarta acts like liners to the wood handles.
I know this would make the folder thicker than normal but I plan to use a thin strip, if you will, of the figured maple.
I have another folder that has carbon fiber scales that I thought would be nice to add Walnut scales on top of too.
Just a thought.
What do you think about this idea?
Thanks,
Brett
