This Tim Hancock Hunter was introduced here several months ago; however after acquiring it from one of our fellow collectors here I’m so excited that I wanted post it up again. Hope no one objects.

I believe this is the second of this style hunter from Tim. He made the first for the 2003 AKI, and it was sold shortly afterwards by one of the more well known on-line dealers. I had attempted to buy the piece however was too late as it didn’t last long. It was well received as it was depicted in a couple magazines and in David Darom’s book “Custom Fixed-Blade Knives” (pg. 152).

Things worked out for the best as I actually like this one better than the first. It’s without a doubt one of, if not the finest hunter I have had the pleasure to hold. One of those rare examples where you can examine the piece under magnification and find no flaws.

It’s always a win/win situation when knives change hands among the family of Blade Forums collectors. The buyer knows or many cases is friends with the owner so you know it’s been cared for and you pay a fair price and the seller can keep track of the piece, in case he/she wants to get it back some day.

Here are the specifications:

OAL: 9 ½”

BL: 4 7/8”

Handle: Frame construction with Damascus frame, fancy filed liners, 5 n/s domed pins and some of the most beautiful blue/crème/brown mammoth ivory I have seen.

Guard/Bolster: Twist pattern Damascus teardrop guard and Tim’s signature border cut and grooved spacer.

Blade: Tim’s new “Forth of July” pattern mosaic damascus from 15n20/1080. Fitting name as it gives the illusion of fireworks bursting in the air as light reflects off the blade. Quite amazing.

Sheath: Tim’s tooled leather pouch sheath with sharkskin inlay.

Thanks for looking and of course comments are welcomed.

Just a stunning piece in all respects. That damascus pattern is really impressive. Tim's quality sheath work often gets overshadowed by his spectacular knives, but he is one of a handful of makers that can provide a sheath that is very much worthy of the blade it houses. Congrats!

I really admire his work, Kevin, and that is an excellent example.
I have a Hancock on my Desktop to remind me each day of what a knife CAN be.
(I almost posted it but chose not to so as not to distract from this beauty!)
Nice addition.

Comments?!?

What kind of comment could I have about that knife?:D

Except to say, congratulations on a beautiful piece that would
have pride of place in any collection.

Nice addition.

Please post the photo Karl, IMO we can't see too many Hancock knives. ;)

I agree Roger, his sheaths are both beautiful and extremely well made.

Thanks for the comments.

What's the biggie? It's a simple hunter.... ;) :eek::thumbup:

Tim's work is top-of-the-pack, and I am glad for you.

 That's a beautiful knife. And if quality implies 'attention to detail' then it is not only a beautiful knife, but a quality piece of work as well. One would expect no less from Tim Hancock.

You have excellent taste, Kevin. Great images also, Coop.

Amazing knife, the materials look great and the attention to detail seems top notch!

Kevin congrats on such a lovely addition. I especially like the damascus and the ivory...although the rest ain't shabby either;)
