With the oily nature of these two woods
do I need to use a different adhesive than
the 24 hour two part I have been using?
I plan on using pins as well but had not
given the adhesive any thought.

What about a finish for these two woods?
Thanks You folks are the greatest.

well, i haven't tried it yet, but gorrilla glue is specially formulated fo for exotics.
but there are a couple different kinds out there. that's if your going to glue them wood to wood.
if your gluing them as scales for a handle just use 30min. or 24hour epoxy.

if you are using a 24 hr two part epoxy you shouldnt have any problem...one thing you can do that works well (my woodworking buddies told me this) is to very vigorouly scrub the inside of the handles with acetone right before you stick them on...wait till the acetone evaporated to put the epoxy on, you will be surprised at how much resin comes off....the only wood that really needs anything special is lignum vitae...you actually need to do above and then apply a thin coat of epoxy on it and let it dry..sand flat...and then glue to handle. trust me on this one..i have a LOT of lignum.

Thanks gentlemen. If I can ever get this
thing ground properly I'll put handles on
it. Man, I'll be glad when I get some machinery.

Thanks again.
