Adirondacks

I've been trailblazing around the Appalachians a bunch, but now I've got my eye on the Adirondacks. The environment seems similar but with a distinct shift in terms of the fauna and geology. Have any of you been hiking up there? Trap dike, specifically, is incredibly appealing but just a bit above my current comfort level. I'd love it if anyone here who has been to the Adirondacks or similar northeast ranges could share their stories or pictures.
