Hi All,

Has anyone shipped a Busse specifically an FBM or larger to China..I have a prospective buyer in China..I read Jaxx's great post on shipping internationally and I plan to follow it to the letter..However, I was looking over the restricted list for China and it just says "weapons", nothing specifically on knives that I could find..Anyone have any input? I don't wanna get myself in trouble here..Any advice is appreciated..Thanks.

I just sold a small one, shipped it out about a month ago and they still didn't get it, and I ship all over the world. I had never shipped to China before and I'm against it now... I think it is supposed to be ok if it is under a certain length, and mine was small, it was a meaner.

I have sold 3 or 4 to China, and I usually mark them as garden tools, but declare the full value on the customs form. One took an extra couple days in customs in China, but both got through to the buyer in under a week.

The buyer and I agreed on Express mail, which added extra cost that they covered, since that can be tracked using the confirmation number all the way to the buyer in China.

Just find a box big enough for Jerry and a few cases of JWB and you shouldn't have any problems.

lachine has received several knives in China, some of them direct from Busse. Maybe the shop can advise you? OTOH, they are probably self-insured and not quite as concerned about loss as you would be.

IIRC, one of lachine's big knives was stopped by Customs.

i am a chinese , as i know ,big blade is not allowed , normaly under 10'' is ok , but a blade like fbm is not the same thing ,man.

i am the buyer of Liu Kuang' Meaner , he is a good guy , alots thanks to him !
 as he said , about 25 days , i am still in waiting !

I just recieved another E-Mail from the buyer after I stated that I was going to ship USPS Express insured for full value and his reply was:

"I dont need insurance since i can't claim if confiscated. And can you use FEDEX instead USPS?"

I would assume insurance also cover my end in the event the knife is lost orconfiscated..Am I correct in that assumption?

On a side note..I spoke with Amy-O @ Busse..She's the best..What a complete sweetheart. She took the time to answer overseas shipping questions and too shoot the breeze a bit..Thats why Busse Knives rock...Period!!!

I "donated" two WWII knives to foreign customs off ebay sales. The sellers claimed they would be fine to ship and would accept any risk if they didnt make it. Of course that all changed when the knives were taken by customs; I was out the knives and the sellers demanded their money back. I dont ship overseas anymore, its not worth it since there are buyers here in the US.

I would bet that you'd have a heck of a time collecting insurance if it is confiscated be customs. It's probably in the fine print somewhere. However, since customs isn't the only thing that could go wrong, I'd still suggest insurance. FWIW, I just shipped a Meaner to China, and though it did sit in customs for over a month, it eventually made it:thumbup:

I usually just mark them as "Kitchen Cutlery" when I am shipping overseas and haven't had a problem yet... knock on wood.

Thanks for all the replies..I'm probably not going to go through with the deal..He refuses to accept my conditions..Doesn't want me to declare full value, and keeps saying he'll take full responsibility..Which is great until something happens and he gets a refund through Paypal...

we ship USPS express, full value claimed and haven't lost one yet. we mark item as "camp tool / fixed blade knife" or "kitchen cutlery". the cost of this runs between 40 and 45 dollars even if it's just to canada.
