Adjustable Angle Sharpmaker Base?

Should Spyderco offer an optional or accessory Sharpmaker base with fully adjustable stone angle so that it can be adjusted over a range of stone angles? This would accomodate blade angles from the very shallow angles found on many Japanese food preparation knives to the fairly wide angles found on heavy duty cutting tools.

Seems to me that this would be a good option.

Yes, I agree. A 35(17.5 per side) degree adapter would be all I would need.

Or just some restaurant coasters as shims. A fully adjustable unit would be nice, but I think it would take away from the simplicity that is the SM as well as drive the price up a lot.

I have been thinking the same thing. Like what they already fit in but those be on a pivot with an angle gauge.

I can freehand. For reprofiles I still don't mind having something to guide the angles.

I think that for touch-ups Sharpmaker is good as is. For reprofiling I would choose something more repeatable than adjustable base.
