Adjustable Pivots

Does anybody know why not all Spyderco's come with an adjustable pivot. They are such an important feature (for me personally) that I won't buy a knife that doesn't have one.

Just wondering if there was a technical reason for some knives not having one, or is it simply just cost.

I'm assuming you just mean a screw pivot, since only a very few Spyderco knives made years ago ever had an adjustable (eccentric) pivot. As for the "why", several possible reasons come to mind. Some folks prefer the simplicity of riveted or pinned pivots. It's a true saying that anything that can go wrong will, and screws have been known to unscrew at the most inconvenient moments. Some folks prefer the esthetics of a pinned knife. One only needs to note the number of folks who've complained about the way the Vallotton's front bolster looks. Or, it may be defensive strategy on Spyderco's part, to prevent ham-fisted folks who think they're competent with tools from proving themselves wrong, then blaming the product.
