Adjusting blade tension on the CUDA's.

hey again, i have one cuda, a cuda claw, it's ok, but no where next to the lethalness of my civilian.. Anyway, i always hated the way those cuda's worked, Camillus themselves designed these knives so even when the two tension screws on each side are fully tightned, the blade has major side to side play, if the blade was alittle tighter, the opening mechanism would not work, it would be very hard to open. But please, let me explain how much better my CUDA Claw is now, after this minor modification.
All the CUDA's have these bronze-or brass hollow tubes that cover the 3/16inch pivot pin, this is a good setup, but honestly, i never liked sleeves over the pivot pins, i'd rather a huge pivot-like Emerson knives.. Anyway, getting back to the Cuda's, if you grind this bronze sleeve/bushing down the slightest amount, about no more then 1/16 of an inch, and re-assemble the knife, you will notice that the blade tension will be similair to benchmade, or any other "adjustible pivots" on the market today, personally, i like my claw much better, there is much less wobble, if none, and the liner will not wear as fast. The main reason the liner on these wear so quickly is because when a folders blade is loose, and the liner springs out, to lock the blade, the liner jumps so far to the other side, cause the wobble in the blade is giving it slack, and the tang will actually move alittle, wehn the blade is tightened, this will not happen, thus giving you a sound lock up every time. Well, just wanted to share that with yall.

Frank. I had a Cuda plain blade when it first came out. I carried it for about a half a year. It failed the spline test. I was not happy. I am not a knife expert ,but i wonder if the blade is too heavy and big for the liner lock provided for that knife. However ,it may have been the only Cuda to have such a problem. I never sent it back to Camillus for repair. I should have. They would have made it good. i never had any blade play on the knife however. Go figure.
