adjusting liner lock

I recently picked up a Vantage Pro Small from the bay. I was excited to get it, but then I realized after playing with it it had an issue. I can only get 5-10% lock, and only if flick it hard with my wrist while flipping or if I grab the blade and push it hard will it finally lock. Can I just take apart and file down the liner?

Does the liner fully engage, or only a sliver of the liner? If the liner makes full contact, but is just on the early side, leave it, it will wear eventually.

Also there is a great video on youtube for adjusting your vantage. Worth checking out.
A member here made that video.

I second what DesertChris stated, with use the liner will move across the blade. As long as the lock is fully on the blade it should be okay.

I have too pretty much force it to get any lock up. If i let it go without any effort it won't engage.

Check out the video then, loosening the frame and pivot screws and adjust the position of the 2 frame sides, then tightening the frame and pivot screws again, should take care of that issue.

You could even open the blade and set the amount of lockup that you want, then tighten the frame screws etc...

Thanks for the great video. I have the same knife as in the video and it came about perfect. A friend gave me his Vantage Force because he couldn't get it to open smoothly. After watching this video, I took booth of them apart. The Select just needed a good cleaning and lube. I discovered there were no pivot bushings in the Force. I guess my buddy must have taken it apart and lost the bushings. I called Buck to see if I could buy some, but they told me I have to send the knife in.

Hey, maybe you can check around for oil impregnated bronze washers, nylon washers, or make your own with gallon milk jug material.
