i'm wondering about this hexagonal adjustable pin for the future.

Has anyone done this before? It seems pretty straightforward, but im unsure. NDo you need to disassemble the knife to adjust it properly? Whats the best way about this?

I searched youtube but can't find anything.

I dont want to mess with it right now because it's absolutely flawless

Just curious, thanks

i don’t have the 761 but the 320 & 890 i do have both have the same stop pin. they’re not hard to adjust. just loosen the screw to the stop pin & rotate it to wherever you want the lock up to be. ill usually have the blade out while i loosen the screw so the pin doesn’t rotate before i’m ready. other than that it’s pretty straightforward

Doesn't sound too bad then. Can probably do it with the rest of the knife assembled then

I dont see why so many people complained about this feature. If it was a normal round pin, thatd be the end once it wears. This seems like it would last so much longer

I really Dont like the idea of disassembling the entire knife.

I've done this on past owned liner locks and remember them feeling way off once screwing it back together

I'm pretty happy with the knife. Id seen some iffy reviews, but I know how people overreact.

The only thing that bugs me is the blade finish. It looks great and fine until you bring it in and look reallllly close, you can see the lines from whatever they used to cut out the blade, and some very very fine scratches that look like the blade was half assed rubbed with an extra fine scotch brite pad.

I could put a mirror finish on the blade very easily, but I don't want to ruin the logo and other markings

I'll just have to live with it.

I absolutely love the 761 but hate the adjustable pin. The problem with the pin That I’ve found is that it loosens over time. I don’t even really use the knife but I do flip it often and each time you flip it, the force loosens the pin ever so slightly. I got my 761 on here second hand and it was tight and mint but eventually developed a very slight bit of blade play. A quick tighten of the stop pin would fix this but without this “feature” you would not need to do this. I ended up stripping the screw out and sent it back to benchmade where they tightened it nice and I haven’t flipped it too much since. Maybe using some sort of loctite could fix this but I have no idea. Great knife, but I wish it just had a standard liner lock

The flats in the stop pin are for adjustment. This helps with wear in. Open the blade, remove the screw, close the blade, adjust the pin using a TX-6 to remove blade play, then blue loctite the screw and re-assemble. It will take some trial an error to get it right but it should work for you.

I will definitely try this because, as stated, I love this knife, and whenever I carry it I feel very fancy

I need to grab some blue loctite.

Probably wont be an issue for awhile, as I NEVER flip my knives, unless they are trash knives. Just the thought makes me cringe

if you don’t mind me asking, why do you feel that way? I am definitely selective of which knives I put to hard use, but are you saying that the knives you own stay in the box for the majority of their lives?

Nah, I carry everything I buy. I just feel like flipping them open hard like that will wear em out quick. Even expensive knives

Not speaking from experience, just paranoia
