How's the Adler Yankee hatchet in terms of a small camp axe/hatchet? Is it good for light chopping and splitting? How is the steel as I see most listings saying it is C45 on for sale website but, the Adler website clearly says it is C60. Did they perhaps change from C45 to C60 at some point?

C60 is the standard they used for all their axes last I knew (which was years ago.) The handles are chunky but that's fixable. The heads tend to be a *little* thick at the bit/cheek transition and can use a bit of thinning and smoothing to eliminate the "speed bump" but the backing geometry is usually good. The Yankee hatchet model is just a VERY standard American-style camping hatchet head, but they put a good heat treatment on 'em. Back years ago when I was first considering carrying their line, I was very excited by the strong value they presented, but the first commercial shipment I got had such atrocious fit and finish I didn't feel like I could sell any of them at standard pricing and listed every one of them as "Grade B", but their current marketing push seems to indicate they're taking things more seriously this time so it's likely they resolved those QC issues.
