I am thinking of getting into 5160 and 1084. Where is the best place for these in a flat stock? I am not forging as of YET!

Also what will the new 1084 be and will it be worth a crap to even bother with?

I just called Admiral yesterday. They don't sell 1084 anymore. They have (what they call) 1075/1080. Your guess is as good as mine what that really means.

But I ordered 3 bars to play with and test. The stuff is dirt cheap and I'm still learning my forging. If it works fine, I'll make some real knives. If not, I'll move on.

I second Kelly. Great guy. I get my 1084, 5160, 15N20, nickle, powdered steel and borax from him. His prices are better than Admirals and he doesn't charge shipping. My shipping charges from Admiral were almost the cost of the steel itself. Kelly ships from CA to PA with no charge...how can you beat that?

I'll try KElly when I burn up what I have laying around. 0-1...I have 4 knives in process and 3 bars of 0-1..............so it will be a little while.

Thanks
