Admiral Steel, shipment time?

For you guy's who order from Admiral Steel, how long does it usually take to get a shipment after ordering? I want to travel to a friends house toward the end of the month and forge some knives and he wants to combine orders with me. Thanks -Guy Thomas

If it is ATS34 that you are ordering, I would seriously take a look at getting 154CM from Crucible instead. I have had problems with pits and/or inclusions with ATS recently. 154CM is essentially the same steel and it is made in the good ol' USA.

Thanks everyone, and thank you also C.L, I had heard of a few people having that problem. I'm still learning the ins and outs of simple high carbon steels and alloys like L6 that can be forged, though I thought about gettting some ATS-34 to play around with. Has anyone else been having trouble with their ATS-34? -Guy Thomas
 
I haven't had problems with ATS-34. I think there is always going to be some amount of pitting...but there is a point where it's unnacceptable.

I like Admiral. Terry Sommers is great and they usually get the steel to me in a week or so (and I live a little more than a hop and skip away from them).

Crucible makes great stuff too. It seems like it takes Crucible a long time to get steel to me...not sure why.

I just did the Safari Club International Portland chapter show where Benchmade was at also. I asked Travis about them switching from ATS to 154 and he said it was just to get the Made in USA aspect back...but sales went up dramatically when they did so. Just kind of interesting.
