Has anyone used any L6 from Admiral Steel? Whats the finish like and was it annealed enough to bandsaw? Thanks!

Have not bought L6 from them. You might call Terry Summers 800-323-7055 and see what he says. He is the Admiral Steel Guru of blade steels. I do know they will replace or refund on steel you are not happy with.

L6.
I have some of L6 from there.
Yes it sawed ok
The finish is ruff but workable
Just takes some sanding
I just wish they had it in thiner stock

To be such good steel they sure are sellin it cheap. If you buy one of the 2" wide bars it's just 11 cents a square inch. I don't know why they jump from 2" wide to 6" wide but atleast it can be cut with a torch if you have one. I think I'm gonna go back to it for my fixed blades and maybe folders if I can find someone to surface grind it for me. I know it's a super tough steel when heat treated right. Thanks guys!!

Hey Michael, I bought a bar of the 1 1/2" wide L6 from them and found that the bar seemed to have something of a spring temper. You could still cut it with a hack saw but not as easily as fully annealed. After I annealed the blank it cut and filed much easier. I haven't finished that knife yet however. The Admiral Steel website says it comes at a R/C of 20-24. How does that compare to fully annealed?
