Has anyone here worked with Admiral Steels 3V? Annealed well? Finish condition? and so on....

I know admiral doesn't have the best reputation, but being a Crucible Steel product and around $20.00 cheaper per bar I thought it would be worth asking about!

Thanks in advance!

It should be the same as any other cpm-3v. It’s probably older stock that they purchased at the old prices.

Maybe,,,,Just seeing if anybody uses them for their cpm-3V suppler before I drop a few hundred with them considering their past reputation. Thanks!

I have purchased Crucible, Sandvik, and Hitachi products from Admiral and never had a problem. I’ve never tried the 3V though. I avoid the generic steels they offer.

When I order from any supplier, I ask for the batch alloy analysis data sheet to see the specific alloy content of the particular steel I am getting. That should be the information to judge by.

I have bought CPM-3V from them in the past and it's been fine. It was in annealed condition and worked pre heat treat very easily. I've sent some to Peter's for heat treating and heat treated some myself without any problems.
