While out and about on the internet looking for information about a totally different type of knife, I ran into this

https://books.google.com/books?id=kvsDAAAAMBAJ&source=gbs_slider_gbs_user_shelves_1004_homepage

This google page has digitized copies of nearly all issues of Boy's Life magazine (the Boy Scout magazine). Some of the early ones are missing (2nd issue Apr 1911 and both May 1911 issues, for example) - Until I found this, I was unaware that BL was a bimonthly publication in the early days.

The earliest ad for a "scout knife" appears in the 3rd issue (1st April 1911 issue).

Looking through the issues, you can find who made what knives and hatchets for the scouts and when. The early issues are all line drawing style, but still cool to look at if you collect old scout knives, like I do.

Obviously, you can also read all the articles, etc. The early issues also had a "knot of the issue", camping and hiking tips, etc.

Interesting resource, thanks
