ADV Butcher Problems

I recently purchased a 2014 all black butcher on the second hand market. This is my first knife from ADV. When I received the butcher I noticed the quality and over-all great ergonomics of the knife. I do have two problems though:

1. The scale screws on the presentation side seem to be coming out of the scale with just flipping the knife open but *** after using loc tite they are staying in.

2. The lock is extremely sticky and I even need two hands to open it, sometimes I need to use a tool to pry the lockbar from the tang.*** After two days of opening the lockup is still rock solid with no stick at all it really broke in great.

I know Andre De Villiers may not have the best CS but I sent him a Facebook message and he sent a message back stating to talk to a certain guy on Facebook. I went through his profile and have seen absolutely nothing that leads me to believe he is in the knife making/repairing business.

Good luck dude, that is the story of my experience with ADV when I had the exact same issues with my Butcher. He is a scumbag that sells so many knives that letting a few people slip through the cracks doesn't seem to affect him. The knives are much more poorly made than they appear.

There have been several people who have reported significant difficulty getting issues with their knives resolved. I like the designs a great deal, but between that and what certainly seemed like a vague threat directed to one of the customers that complained I am staying far away.

Gotcha, that's what I was afraid of. After another day of flipping the lock stick has almost gone away. Hopefully it stays away. I'll see if the problems still persist. Thanks!
