Today I made a sheath for our fellow young knifemaker Marcel.

Now the knife the sheath is intended for, is something special. It was forged and built by Marcel at the beginning of the year.

Of course I assisted him here and there, and took over when it got too complicated or dangerous for him. But he really tried hard to do most things on his own. So when he was finished, he was quite proud of the resulting knife as you can see on the following pic :).

Now everyone of us knows that a knife without a sheath is only a half knife. Because of that I borrowed it, stating that I'll sharpen it for him. Of course I made a sheath for it and surprised him with it today :D.

And surprised he was and happy of course too, he immediately told me that the next thing he has to get is a proper belt so he can carry his precious everywhere :).

I really have to say that I slowly grow fond of making sheaths. They still look a bit odd from time to time, but it's a great fealing if you can finally form leather consciously. It used to be that the leather was in command of how the sheaths were going to look like ;).

So here are the pics of the sheath. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoyed the whole process :).

Sweet! I love the finish too, and that is a nice sheath. Sheaths are the one thing more than anything else gives me trouble. That and I realy hate hand stiching! You both done good.
