Well, today I headed out to the most adventurous spot the city bus gets to.

Headed along the trail, and came across what at first glance looked like a tent set up by a hobo (they have really taken over and trashed another spot that used to be good for adventure). Turns out this was actually an experiment in progress though. :)

The path to the more adventurous spot was completely flooded, creating an impassable swamp. I spotted another path that might not be flooded...so pulled out the Ka-Bar Ek Bowie to clear the branches blocking the path. Didn't cut so well at first; turns out I was using the back of the blade. The handle does not tell you which way the edge is oriented, and I thought I'd put it in the sheath the other way. It cut better once the edge was used. :D

However, that way was flooded too, so I took stroll through the prairie lands, where this was the most use I got out of the knife:

Not very hardcore, to say the least.

However, thanks to some handy gift shop turtles, I was able to create a great "nature shot." ;)

Finally, once back in the city proper I sheltered from the rain with a nice coffee:

So you see, I get it.
I understand all those who say we don't "need that much knife" for most things, because we often don't. We spend time in city environments where the most use of a knife is often for a picture to post online, and even when going on a hike, the places frequented by the "white man from town" crowd often allows little knife usage either (bonus points if you know where that quote comes from ).

Doesn't mean I'm gonna carry less knife though. :p

It’s from “Thinner”, white man from town. You never see us. You got somebody to give that pie to? Yeah, you got somebody...

Had a cookout the other day and used my brand new (to me) Busse NO-e to chop a branch off a tree, strip it, and sharpen it to flip sausages. Why? Because I can. High adventure it ain’t, but oh well. I’ve done a lot more to put that knife through it’s paces since then.

If you’re talking to me, that would be the far southernmost tip known as Houston, TX. Eh.

IIRC Stabby is way up north from me, but not in Canada.

Pretty sure Stabman is in TO.

Myself I am a huge fan of finding chunks of urban forest.

Whereabouts in Canada are you from, eh!? :p:cool:

Well, I am in Canada, in the magical land of Windsor. :)
Canada's southernmost city...more south than a fair bit of the USA (which seems weird).

"Whiteman from town" came from a Steven King movie but I forget the name. Still trying to figure out what the hell that experiment was all about  Was the experiment used to see how long it would take for vagrants to move into an empty tent? True story!, I live in the Burbs of Boston and I was out mountain bike riding one night and I came across a tent set up in an unusual spot on the side of the trail. When I finished up my ride and made it out of the woods I was met by two police officers with a dog on foot while a police helicopter hovered above me as I rode out. I looked up then I looked at the police and asked if there was something going on tonight and one said yes but nothing to worry about then the other officer asked me were I lived and I gave him my address and he looked at me suspiciously and he said "That's like 10 miles away" so I explained to him that that was the whole idea of bike riding for exercise. His partner laughed at him and they went on their way and I rode strait home to check out the news and it turns out that a homeless man had robbed the gas station at Gunpoint across the street from the trailhead and he fled into the woods, the same woods I was riding in and I was at his campsite while he was out holding up the gas station . So now when I ride at night instead of the little pocket knife I use to carry I now carry a small folding machete because a large knife can also do the same work small knife. Bigger is Better in some cases and even though it is no match against a pistol it gives me more confidence in self defence situations should one happen to come about. Cool looking knife BTW

Ah, you’re practically spitting distance from Detroit! That’s why I thought you were in the states. Nice stomping grounds you have there from the pics and pics in other threads you’ve posted.

I always look forward to your posts for all the photos and the no BS attitude. It’s much appreciated.

It helps to counter all the 6'5" tall, 300 pounds of muscle guys dating supermodels and living in 3 million dollar houses that seem to make up so much of the population on the internet. :D

South of Detroit!

It blows my mind...even looking at a map it doesn't make sense to me!

Amen. It’s refreshing to just see a dude using his knives instead of fretting over them so they can place them gently on a microfiber cloth in their safe.

Some of the posts on BF now and then take the piss right out of me if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean.

However, I am glad that there are also people who keep their knives pristine, because sometimes they sell them years later, and we can get brand new knives years after they are discontinued. :)

Haha! You’re right, and I’m a believer. That guy who had my NO-e from 2001-ish until a few weeks ago sure took good care of it for me.

Can’t say the same for what I’m doing to it now, but I know it’s having more fun. :D

Yep.

Well...@AntDog that’s a Tim Horton’s cup in the last pic...so unless there’s more Timmies opening up down south...it’s Canada! :)

CanadaKnifeGuy CanadaKnifeGuy hows aboot listing your city or province in your info so we know where in Canada you are at too! :p

I'm from the GTA and just living a bit north of the city.

If you like the outdoors, this is a good place to be! If you like the warmth.... Move.
:D:po_O:(

There is at least one timmy's in Ireland, so whatever that's worth.
Here in Aus they are spoiled by real coffee and donuts are not much of a thing, though poutine might make a good showing of itself here someday. I figure there are enough displaced aussies in Canada that you should be able to get good meat pies there, but last I checked, still not. Anywho, carry on the urban adventures!
