Adventure with the BK-17

I managed to get in some woods wandering time this afternoon. Of course, the BK-17 came along.

I found a new trail to check out.

Looks like someone came up the trail before me, and no return prints, so they're still up there. Yep, I hear talking.

Explored another road until the overlook was unoccupied, and found some deer tracks.

Obviously, the BK-17 enhances your tracking skills.

Now let's see that view.

And I couldn't leave without cutting something.

I made it back around dark and found something to eat.

I think he blued it...the blades dont look like that when they're stripped.

I know they don't look like that when they're totally stripped, but I thought there might be a way to semi strip so there's a tint and some of the coating left.

Maybe if you used a fine sandpaper and did it really slowly? But I don't see the point in that...Def looks like blueing.

It's blued.

And convexed, but not an official Fisk edge.

Y'know if you use both retention straps on your sheath that knife can't wander out alone like that. Great shots!

FYI Once you blue a knife I don't think you're supposed to use on food products, could be toxic ....

the tweeners do, or at least mine does. Looks to me like the OP's had same effect as mine does on the flats, he just blued the grind.

thats just stripped, nothing else done to the metal. The 16 had a sort of dark grey/silver two-tone going on under the black coating. Mine also appears to be ever so slightly stonewashed. Who knows what the guys at KBAR were doing to these, remember they were basically Testers/Prototypes

Great pics! Looks like you and your knife had a lot of fun. I ordered a BK17 today and can hardly wait for it to arrive. I rather like the the look of your BK16 thrillbilly and may well have to push the limit on the bank account and pick one of those up as well...although I do have thoughts of picking up a BK11 too.

The 17 is really growing on me. I love drop points, but damn that looks nice. I think I like the 17 better than the 16 really. Looks wise anywhos. Too bad the handles don't fit my hand though.
