i'm looking to give a gift for christmas to someone i work with (sheeple).

would be a small folder (but bigger than a spydie ladybug).

say 2 to 2.5" blade--any kind of lock---preferably one hand opener---

under $40...........any ideas??

thanks.............Bill

Spyderco Navigator. Less than $40 and built like a tank. And VG10 is a great steel.

The Spyderco Dragonfly sounds perfect. Or go for the Spyderco Kiwi if you want something a little more like a gentleman's folder.

In that price range and size I would suggest a Kershaw Chive or Scallion. With the assisted opening, they might even think knives are COOL, and get hooked!

You may wish to contact the Spyderco Retail Outlet and see if they have any of the blue Salsas left. it is a discontinued model that is a superb workhorse of a knife with 2 7/16" blade. I carry one regularly and bought 2 more for gifts at the discounted price for the discontinued ones.

Another vote for the Spyderco Dragonfly. I've got one. It's really designed to cut with its thin flat ground blade. It also has really good ergos for such a small knife. Think of it as a mini Calypso, Jr.

I second the spydie navigator. Its incredible comfortable to hold for such a small knife. It also looks nice and performs very well. Best of all they can be had for around 30 bucks.

I'd opt for a small CRKT Point Guard. I don't like most spyderco folders, at least the lockbacks.
