1095 is not a good beginner steel, and this is the wrong forum (you want the knifemaker forum).
 
yea, wrong forum, just click on the forum links in this order: Forum ---> Knife Maker's Discussion Forums ---> Shop Talk - BladeSmith Questions and Answers ... And thats wherer you can post all the "knifemaking" questions you want! :)
