I've always carried and used knives but have never been more than a casual buyer. Now however, I have the bug! That being said, with so many great options, I don't know what to buy next or which way to take my collection. So far my collecting has mostly centred around Benchmade, Griptillian specifically, and also a couple Southern Grinds. Was hoping some of you who have been at this for a while might make some suggestions.

- Not interested in automatics
- Prefer USA made
- $100-$250
- Weight under 5 ounces
- 3.4-4" blade length
- Frame Lock, Liner Lock, plunge, or AXIS like lock

TRM, Pro-Tech, Hinderer, and Spyderco are some thatI 've been considering.

Maybe it's time to try a Para Military 2? That price range kinda puts Hinderer out of consideration though.

What else do you own along with your Benchmade and Southern Grind knives?

Also, what other types of knives do you have a need for? In other words, what other types of knives would you consider using?

Another vote the PM 2. Plenty of flavors and combos to choose from. The Atom is another good one.

Zero Tolerance 640 and 707. Also, the 393 if you can find one.
Hogue EX03, Sig EX-01, X5

I have no experience with Pro tech and their plunge lock.

The PM2 is high on my list of Spydercos. I've seen a couple with jade scales and tanto blades on the for sale forums recently that caught my eye.

Not many really. A few fixed blades, dawson, dozier, white river. I had several cheaper production knives but have given them away to friends and family since I've gotten into the mid range folders.

Edit: Forgot to mention the Hogue Ritter I just picked up. More or less a Griptillian.

As far as need, I think we're all way past need. I use my knife daily for moderate tasks associated with office and field work, and sometimes kitchen.

TRM Atom.
Agreed - the Atom impressed me a lot, even if it didn't manage to kick my regular carry out of my pocket. I'd pick it over a (stock) PM2 without hesitation.

B_Pilgrim B_Pilgrim you mentioned Southern Grind - I'll assume you've got a spider monkey, despite the blade length bring shorter than your preference.... If you don't, you should.
I don't know if you've got too many Griptilians to consider the Hogue/Ritter; but it's an outstanding knife. I'll also step beyond personal experience and recommend the ZT 0470 - I'm sure I'd like it, and I'll probably grab one if/when I find myself itching for a new modern folder. It's just a touch over your max.

ZT seems like quality but their style is more aggressive than I like. As much as I like my Sig P938, don't care for the styling on the two Sig knives you mentioned. That Hogue isn't bad though! And I'm happy with the Hogue Ritter RSK I recently purchased from another forum member.

I do have a spider monkey, the first knife I ever bought on these forums. Was my edc for a couple years even. I can't say enough about Southern Grind's customer service. I ran over the thing with a skid steer forestry mulcher, found it later with a metal detector, and they replaced it with a new knife! But yeah, it is a smaller blade than I prefer these days.

Actually just brought a Hogue Ritter earlier this week from a member here. Sorry I forgot to mention it. I really do like it. Might give it to my dad for father's day but I'll be replacing it if I do.
