Advice for a NYC Resident

Good evening:

Just looking for some advice regarding some new knives I am looking at---

Specifically, the Cold Steel Recon Scout, Cold Steel SRK and SOG SEAL Pup.

I do hold a valid NY State Super Sportsman's license (includes hunting, fishing, muzzle-loading, etc.) and the noted knives will be used strictly during hunting season or while camping.

After reviewing the state and city laws, it appears that I am ok to own or possess (while engaged in the noted activities). However, I just wanted to check if anything has changed.

As always,
Thanks.

I would go with the Cold Steel "Master Hunter". It is a very sturdy, VG1 stainless steel blade, 4 1/2" long, which is all that you would need for a hunting knife. It does not look military like the other ones and is less likely to get you into legal difficulty.

Thanks Tom1960, good advice.

I should have provided a bit more detail. I have no shortage of hunting knives similar to what you have described. However, I always have on me more of a "hard working knife." Specifically, one that is used to help construct tree stands, cut heavy nylon straps used to tie down ATV's, etc., etc.

We hunt way up in the north country where you can't use a cell phone, no electric, water, etc. Even the nearest hospital is over an hour away. A such, when we go out, we depend on what we can carry, more so than a day hunting in the southern region.

When hunting up there, I have been carrying what some may call the military style knives. But what the heck, they work well in the field. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience lately or heard anything (positive or negative).

Thanks!
