I grew up in the area, and try to get back to A. G.'s store whenever I can. While there, take the time to handle any knives you've been thinking about. Make sure to ask questions to make the sales folks feel good, even though you probably know as much, if not more than they do.
Check out some of their "Russell's for Men" items, which are quite fancy, and worth a look, along with the customs that may be in the glass cases.
Another thing to make sure to look at is the case at the back of the store. They often have deeply discounted knives, that are usually top notch quality, but have been returned for some reason, or another. Some may be used, or discontinued, but definitely have found a gem or two, in my time. Two of my favorite knives came from his discount stock.
And by all means, be on the lookout for the man himself. Make a point of asking if he's around. It's always worth your while to talk with him. Just make sure to talk up his designs.
In the area: There's a HUGE Cabela's at the exit north of there ("The Promenade?), which is worth a stop.
If you are able to travel into Eureka Springs (about an hour away) it's a very romantic place to take your significant other, with lots of Victorian houses, shops and B&Bs. Avoid this if you easily get car-sick though, as it's a long and windy road (pronounced whine-dy

)
Or, take the time to have a picnic off of Beaver Lake.
Definitely tell us how the trip went. I'll be down there, myself in about 2 weekends.
FYI, when I decide to retire, I plan on moving to Fayetteville, or Eureka Springs, and working for A. G.'s store for my remaining days, and going fishing every weekend. It's a beautiful area, and definitely gives me something to look forward to, someday.
PM me, if you have any additional questions about the area. My entire family lives around there, and I visit about once a month.
