I would like to get a Custom Stockman and was hoping you guy's could help me out. It would be a user (EDC). I can only afford one so I figure I might as well make it a good one. My price limit would be $1200. I know that's a lot of
money for a user but in the end it's just a tool and tools are made to be used.
Any help, information and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

Your best bet is to get a hold of Bill Ruple. He makes some of the finest for less than your limit. He does have a web site so a short amount of browsing should get ya there.

Here is one of his trappers. I have seen his stockmen too. Nice knives from Bill no matter what the pattern.

For the money, John Howser 502-875-3678 (Frankfort, KY) makes some of the nicest traditional folders around. There was a nice article in Blade last summer about one of his whittlers. For $1200 you can buy 2 or 3 of his folders.

Cheers!

Hi Greg,

I checked out Bill's website and the only stockman pattern I saw was a Sowbelly.

Scottk,

Thanks, for the info....

Here's a pix of one of John Howser's knives.

Thanks,
