My little brother is traveling to England for a semester of college, and I plan on getting him an engraved Victorinox Farmer as a going away present. Would this be OK to carry on a daily basis around England and other parts of Europe? He also plans to travel all around Europe while he's there. Any tips you could give me would be great!

from my knowledge u can't carry any sort of blade in england...

but thats only from what i've heard...

it should be ok for him to have but not to carry on his person unless outdoors in camping areas or something like that...

tried my best.

cheers

Awww, well that sucks. Maybe I'll get him a nice flask or something. :D

Thanks for your reply.

I was born in England and believe me do not carry anything with an edge there or they will come down on you like you were walking around stabbing people.

I wrote the article on www.bushcraftuk.com referred to by mp510. A slipjoint folder with a sub 3" blade is perfectly legal to carry in the UK. The Vic Farmer will be just fine.

You can carry a larger knife, a locking folder or fixed blade if you need it for work or have some other good reason to carry the knife.

Don't hesitate to ask if I can offer any other advice, or come and visit at www.britishblades.com. I'm 'Danzo' over there.

My youngest son just got back from a semester in the UK. He carried a small slip joint the whole time he was there. I'm pretty sure the law allows a non locking less then 3" blade.
