Hi Guys

I received a titanium mug for Xmas.

The thing is ultra light weight and is very thin. I was wondering how durable this mug might be as I have never had titanium before.

Would I also be able to put this direct onto a stove, or will that damage it. I use a MSR Pocket Rocket.

No problem. 3000 F. melting point.
I had one I used with an SVEA. No problem...other than the fact it got " disappeared", from Key Largo campground.
edit.
Not that particular model but a light titanium cup very similar.

In my experience, it's probably plenty durable, and will have no problem from being put directly onto a stove.

About half of my cookware is titanium. I have a SnowPeak mug that is almost the same as that and have been using it for years with no problems. I actually use all of my cookware every day and it holds up nicely. Just don't sit on it.

Thats what it is made for. I have the snow peak which looks about the same thickness as the one you posted. I use mine on a stove or on coals without problem. Only think I don't like about titanium cups are drinking out of them (burn lip syndrome). Having a plastic cup to pour into makes a more enjoyable hot beverage drinking experience.

I recall someone posting that if you put one of those silicone wristbands (think Livestrong) around the rim you won't burn yourself.

Good point. I will probably stick to using my little kettle for heating water as it has a lid and will be more stable on the stove. If I have to use the mug for heating, I might get a foldy cup like yours.

Nice present.

Find a nice pot for it to nest into and coupled with your Rocket, you are ready for any field cooking. The MSR titan kettle is a nice size, as it can be pot or cup, giving you two cups for that special dirt date :)

Here's my Rocket and Titan combo, but there are lots of good pots out there:

I use mine all the time in the fire, they work great. Check out this pic. My Mini Solo Ti pot is glowing red at one spot.

Well that's the first time I've seen one glowing. Water must be ready for some coffee and a shot of whiskey - great pic and great setup :)

Brians, thanks, Yea I really like that set up. to bad the Mini Solo is so costly lol.

I was getting ready to have some Coco, I think that pic was taken about 3:30 am. that morning.

I am pretty sure that was a red hot spot.
