I am looking for a bushcraft knife. Price between 0 and 65 or 70 US dollars. A scandinavion grind or something similar. Easy to sharpen. 4 inch blade or less. Full tang or as strong as can be. I was looking at the Helle Eggen. It looks pretty nice. If thats a good one let me know of a reliable place to buy it. If you have any suggestions reply and tell me where to find it and what it is.
thanks,
sunny

I too would suggest a mora. They are easy to sharpen and cheap to replce if you loose/break one. I have beaten mine to death and they still come back for more. My favs are the 510 and the MK2000. Both have proven themselves countless times. As for helle, I never handled one before. I heard good and bad things about those from other member on this forum. You might want to check in the W&S(wilderness and survival) sub forum for more advice. I'm sure that somebody will chime in to give you a better option and opinion.

Post this in the Wilderness & Survival Skills subforum in the Tactics & Training forum in Community. I assure you you will get a ton of great responses from very knowledgeable members. That's my advice. -DT

I have a Helle Eggen, and a Helle futura. Nice knives, will stand up to bushcrafty stuff, but they're more hunting-oriented. Many other, better choices out there in your price range. Check out ragweedforge.com. Best place out there for scandi stuff. My personal recommendation? Mora 2000. You won't be sorry.

+1 on a Mora ... can't really go wrong ... great quality and inexpensive.

I get my moras at bensbackwoods.com
The shipping is cheaper than ragweeds but there is less selection.

I just picked up another #1 carbon with a JRE bushcraft sheath w/ firesteel loop for it. Should make a great camping/hiking knife.

Moras are good knives for the money. That said, I have a Helle Eggen I look forward to using in the woods. Ragweed Forge or Ben's Backwoods are both good sources.

He ain't lying. However, be warned: you can't stop with just one Mora. They're just so darn reliable and sharp. Like a having laser on your belt. They resharpen very easily, too.

I'd go with the 510 myself. While I do prefer a guard, the one on the 556 could get in the way. While I don't own the 510, I have read several positive reviews on them at various forums.

I have a 510 and it's stainless counterpart, the 545. They are great knives. Don't overlook them because of their low price.
The Clippers (840 and 860) are also very, very good. I think I may have to try the Mora 2000 too!
