Advice on a CRK Sebenza 21 re: will sending back for authentication / service increase value?

Hey BFC
I was fortunate enough to score an older Sebenza 21. I don’t question its authenticity but am curious, if I were to resell, would it benefit the sale to send it back for authentication/ service/ lanyard/ box material? Or does the CRK community care? I’m not trying to solicit a sale, I’ll just say it’s a good one.
Thanks!
John

If you look inside the scales it will tell you what year it was made. There will be some letters also for the quarter of that year. If you send it in, they’ll create a new birthday card and sharpen the blade. You can get the handles sandblasted also.

Having the box and papers always makes a knife more appealing, but it won't make a huge difference like it would for, say, a collectible trading card or something. CRK collectors usually know they can send a knife in for the spa, and fakes are mainly a concern when the photos are really bad (CRK's have simple looking designs, but they feel pretty unique opening/closing).

Feels like the right thing to do

I wouldn't bother . It is a re issued birth card and box, not the same as the originals.
Let the buyer decide if they want it spaed or not.
While CRK charges nothing you still wiill pay shipping and insurance both ways
This also sounds like very sound advice. Thank you

A trip to the Spa won’t impress a collector - they want all original, not reissue. You might make a casual CRK fan more comfortable buying it, and CRK might catch a a bad washer or something, so there could be value. Still, it won’t likely net you any more $$$ in resale than it cost you to have it done.A good used/carried knife will sell for market price regardless, most of the time, IMHO.

Congrats on the find! Don’t send it back, a reissued birthcard doesn’t mean much at all in the CRK collector world and you don’t want them accidentally repolishing the scales or doing anything with the original blade.

I kindly thank all you guys for taking the time to give excellent advice. I would have thought sending it back for a spa day would have been a smart move so you all saved me $50 and 3 months waiting. Massively appreciate this all of you!

Since you're not soliciting a sale and decided you might as well keep it, can you show us this mystery knife now? You can't just tease us and say it is a good one without showing it off a bit.
