Advice on a fixed edc

Hello!

I'm considering some EDC-length fixed. Just for test, I tried a Cold Steel Canadian belt knife with its nylon sheath. So far I liked the idea. But I want kydex with a better option for belt attachment -- tek-lok or IWB belt loop.

So far I have these on my mind:

  • Spyderco Bill Moran drop-point
  • ESEE 3 uncoated
  • Spyderco Mule
  • Spyderco Street Bowie
  • Some 3-4" fixed from BRKT or BHK

I have a Becker BK-17 knife already but I want a blade without coating and a little lighter on weight, with kydex sheath. Another thing, the handle must be comfortable.

Also, I was thinking about ordering a kydex sheath for CS Canadian or Mora Companion.

Considering that I'll need to get a handle and sheath for Mule or BRKT/BHK, what would you suggest?

Turn around time for buying/trying/reselling a knife for me is kinda long. So I thought I can use your suggestions.

Thanks a lot!

I carry small FBs quite a bit. My 2 favorites are a Bradford Guardian 3 (1st choice) and a BRKT Essential. The G3 is M390 and has both leather and kydex available. The leather is a horizontal carry and really works well. The kydex is extra $ but it's set up for a Spyderco G clip and is a nice option for an angled cross-draw carry on either side.

The Essential is M4 and very well done. It's a bit heavier than the G3 and the smooth handle doesn't grip as well as the cross-hatched scales on the G3, but it feels really good in hand abd I do like M4.

I like your idea of the Spyderco Bill Moran, which was favorably tested by our military.

A simple Buck 102 is a nice EDC knife.

I think I would give a long hard look at the Fallkniven Kolt and WM1, both of which were designed for EDC.

I'd say grab a BRKT I have a Gunny,2009 micro tusk custom, and lil caper. I've been very happy with them and keep meaning to buy more of their line but money and other knives keep distracting me. I can't speak on the rest cuz I don't own them only some Spyderco folders but I'd say Spyderco is a safe bet too! You may look for a Spyderco day hiker or woodlander,Ect on the exchange worth taking a look at IMO. Well good luck man!

I have a Dozier K9 that is really nice. The kydex is first rate and it is imo a perfect size.
